The philosopher, Tim Baggot, describes   our identity within the world as, ‘a tortuous net of interlinking and interdependent strands.’  This was the starting point for this collection entitled, ‘Woven Identity.’

Before the idea of weaving the images together came to me I explored different ways of communicating our sense of identity through the written word and through symbols. My own dislike of being photographed; the irrational fears around having my picture taken or not liking what I see when it is taken. Woven imagery can explore identity without  vulnerability. Different parts of the person’s life, past and present, can be explored and juxtaposed to form interesting montages within the whole. ‘
